Use of AI
How we use AI in content creation
AI is a rapidly evolving technology.
We continue to explore its potential to support our mahi in ways that are aligned with our mission and values. Below are the principles and standards we follow when using AI and some of the ways we incorporate AI into content creation within this website.
Our tikanga
Quality and accuracy
When it comes to using AI, we’re committed to ensuring we get it right – that is why any AI-generated content goes through a thorough check to ensure its accurate, high -quality, appropriate, and free from bias or misinformation.
Security and privacy
Your privacy matters, which is why we don’t use private or sensitive data with AI tools in a way that breaches the Privacy Act 2020.
Intellectual property
Sometimes mistakes can be made – so If we discover or are alerted that AI-generated content might have infringed on someone’s intellectual property, we’ll take steps to rectify the situation as soon as possible.
Māori data sovereignty
We respect Māori data sovereignty and acknowledge the importance of ensuring that Māori data is managed and protected according to tikanga Māori. We are committed to working in ways that align with these principles, ensuring that any use of AI upholds the mana and integrity of Māori knowledge, values, and taonga.
We’re committed to keeping things smart, secure, ethical – and culturally respectful.
Generating ideas
We sometimes may use AI to help us brainstorm potential headlines, topics, and content ideas, which are evaluated for their relevance and alignment with the needs of our key stakeholders. This supports our commitment to providing forward-thinking insights and resources.
Drafting content
We may use AI to generate initial drafts of various types of content, including articles, social media posts, newsletters, and policy documents. AI allows us to refine and enhance the final outputs, ensuring they meet the needs of Aotearoa New Zealand’s construction sector.
Review and editing
AI is used to summarise, review, and edit content, helping us to ensure consistency, grammatical accuracy, and alignment with the Ngākopa Construction 4.0 Hub tone, editorial style and brand tikanga. This supports our team in delivering high-quality, professional communications.
All AI-generated or assisted content undergoes thorough review and approval by HERA’s Comms 4.0 team to ensure it aligns with our standards, values, and commitments to tikanga Māori.
